Rugby is one of those sports that can get downright vicious at times, especially when you consider how violent a game it is by its very nature. Couple that with high strung athletes on a mission to win at all costs, and you’ll get more than a few bumps, scrapes, and scratches. Rugby games have some of the most epic fails of any sport, anywhere. And when you have Rugby fails, you can count on a whole lotta hurtin’ going on. However, just like any other sport, the fails can be absolutely hilarious to watch.

Today, we’re going to entertain you with an exciting and rather funny video full of footage from some of the most epic fails in rugby. From fumbles to foibles, you’ll see it all, including one terrible shot of a player running the ball down field, seemingly uncovered by the other team, until suddenly out of nowhere one his opponents swoops in and literally picked him up as he was running. Truly epic.

The London Irish rugby full back Delon Armitage has been suspended from the second-string squad for English rugby’s Saxons. The suspension follows his arrest involving an altercation which took place in a nightclub. Armitage, the 28-year-old player, played well for the Saxons team on January 28. However, he was arrested later that night and released on bail. The information comes down from England Rugby as a statement delivered via official email. Armitage’s suspension from the Elite Playing Squad depends upon the outcome of the police investigation, according to England Rugby.

“We take issues surrounding the behavior of England players very seriously and as such have decided to suspend Delon from the Saxons EPS pending the result of the police inquiry,” Stuart Lancaster, the head coach for England, said in the statement. “We will then consider if further action is appropriate. High standards of behaviour are required from England players on and off the field, and they also need to understand that they should not put themselves in a potentially vulnerable position or environment.”

Lancaster replaced Martin Johnson, the former head coach who quit last year following the team’s disappointing World Cup results. The disappointing behavior of the team was not limited to the playing field, and unfortunately, players got more attention for their misadventures in pubs and other whereabouts than for their rugby skills. After Johnson stepped down, Lancaster vowed to turn the team around, and following the suspension of Armitage we can only suppose that he meant business.

Mike Tindall, the former team captain, was let go from the squad and was fined by RFU after video footage filmed in a Queenstown bar with an ex-girlfriend surfaced. He was also found to have been misleading team officials. Even though Tindall eventually reinstated and had his fine reduced, he was still not allowed on the squad for the Six Nations tournament. This cost the team probably severely. This was the point when the antics of the players began to truly interfere with their performance. This is unfortunate because the players lose a lot of benefits like their discount health plans, training, and compensation when they are suspended or let go.

This year, a lot of attention to players off the field is expected, and so all the European teams will be under closer public scrutiny. How the behavior translates to on field performance will certainly be observed more carefully by fans and analysts alike, and coaches will be expected to offer more control over the players, and to advise them on the repercussions of public scandal. We shall see.

Ah, rugby, the sport of real burly men. You know, rugby is European football and that’s where it’s at. In Europe, of course. I have loved rugby since the first time I got the chance to attend a match, and I must say that my feelings for the sport have just continued to grow and grow and grow. You might be wondering what is my favorite time for rugby?

Obviously, I am quite fond of the Rugby World Cup. Clearly it is the most exciting and rousing time for the game of rugby as all sorts of teams come together to compete for the ultimate prize. The champions will be winners for the whole year until the next Rugby World Cup happens in the next year. You can never be too sure which team will be the one to pull off the championship win.

If you have never yet watched the Rugby World Championship, then you might not be familiar with how it works. This is the case for many, many people. Just know that it really is not all that difficult to follow. You just have to know a couple of things. The infographic below gives some good explanation to how it all works.

The 2011 Rugby World Cup may have just ended a few weeks ago, but that’s no reason not to continue looking forward. And by looking forward, I am talking about like three years, you know? Of course 2015 Rugby news might not be the first thing you are thinking about at the moment. You might still be reliving the 2011 World Cup or maybe you are not even thinking about rugby at all. Gasp! You might be wondering what you will be eating for dinner or what you should get your significant other for the holidays. I suppose those are important things to consider, BUT this is big news too. You see in 2015 the Rugby World Cup will be heading back to England.

Oh yes, England will be playing host to the best Rugby teams all around for this wonderful event. I know I am already getting excited just thinking about it. Of course in a few days I will be ringing in the year 2012 and I very well might forget about this since it is occurring three years from now, but right now I am stoked. Super, super, super stoked. I’m not the only one, otherwise I don’t think that Rugby World Cup would have come out with this promotion for the 2015 games…

The Rugby World Cup happens every four years, when countries send their biggest and best teams to compete in this worldwide event. The 2011 Rugby World Cup has been fraught with crazy headlines concerning some of its star players, namely one New Zealand rugby winner named Zac Guildford, who allegedly staggered into a beachside bar naked and bleeding, soaking wet, and drunk. He then reportedly assaulted two people who were vacationing in the area.

Guildford blamed the cuts and scrapes on a scooter accident he claimed happened earlier in the day, but his bizarre behavior was obviously the result of drunken stupor. Thank goodness he didn’t play rugby that way!

It is reported that the 22-year-old All Black winger punched a man who had merely asked him if he needed help. Guildford then struck another tourist, Nick Cox of Australia, on the back of his head for no apparent reason. Sounds like they could have used a reliable home security team at the time.

Check out this great infographic about this year’s Rugby World Cup.

The sport of Rugby is rapidly growing all over the world, even here in the United States. Who knew that rugby was something suitable for all people and all ages? That’s right though according to USA Rugby the second a child can handle a ball and run with it, he or she is ready to play rugby. Youth rugby is sweeping the nation, and there are even high school rugby teams now too that allow for high school students to participate in the sport.

For younger kids there is a non-contact version of the game that keeps the sport safe and fun. As children grow older they are able to participate in the contact sport complete with coaching and more just like football, baseball, or any other more well known sport.

The high school programs now are primarily intramural, but USA Rugby is on a mission this year to make certain that all athletes can have the chance to participate and compete in the sport of rugby as a legitimate and actual sporting event.

Take a look at the video of a youth rugby camp that took place at Chico State.

I just recently moved from London, England to the United States. Since I have lived in the states, I have shared with many the fact that I am actually quite fond of rugby. I used to play when I was much younger and more able, but since I have just taken more of an interest in simply watching the game live or on the television, either way I enjoy it. It is funny to me the lack of knowledge that Americans have when it comes to my most loved sport. I know that they have their American football here, and that is all well and good. It would just be nice if I did not have to explain the rules and ideas to about every person that I get on the subject with.

I have actually received many an email about hte possibility that I could explain all of the rules on this very site so that the sport can be easier understood especially for those more familiar with the game of American football. Well, I have something better than just writing the rules for you all. I found a very good video that is a sort of introduction to the sport rugby. Hopefully it will shed some light to those American football watchers who are looking to get into rugby.

The 2011/2012 season for the London WASPS rugby team is now officially underway. You must have already guessed that this is indeed my favorite rugby team. I have followed the WASPS for many years, and because I just moved to the states I was scared I would have to miss out on this season. Thankfully I just got off the phone with direct tv customer support, and what do you know, they offer rugby programming. I’m so glad I don’t have to watch the games on my little laptop screen, the television is far more superior when it comes to enjoying the sport.

Over the summer there were 13 new team members added to the amazingly skilled squad, and I must admit I am anxious and excited to see how they will perform this season. I was doing some researching on the web to get some more information about this year’s team and what I can expect when I came across the little gem you see below here. It is an infographic and it contains some quite informative information about be dearly loved WASPS squad. I love it, and I am so very happy that I happened to come across it. Whether you are a WASPS fan or not, I think you too will enjoy it.

According to Mitchell Watt the fact that he had to choose between rugby and the Olympics was actually not a difficult decision to make. The Australian decided to give up on rugby and not prepare this week for the rugby World Championships. Instead, if you see Watt, he is busy prepping for the long jump title. Giving up on the team sport of rugby was definitely something that he had no problem doing, especially to replace it with winning some glory for himself.

A few members of the Australian team even played some rugby with Watt over the years. A couple of those rugby players include Will Genia and even Quade Cooper. About three years ago though, Watt decided to give up rugby for good and get back into the long jump and the pit.

Since his rugby quitting time, Watt has actually had quite a career in the long jump category. He took home the bronze in Berlin at the 2009 Worlds. This year competed in Daegu and ended up with the four best jumps in all of the world. That is just where Watt is looking to be in fact.

He gave an interview just recently and talked about his decision to give up rugby altogether, and the Queenslander does not regret it. He claimed that he never really did feel comfortable playing the sport of rugby and that was the primary reason he quit playing. On top of the fact that he was uncomfortable, Watt stated too that with the way things are going, and along with the Olympics approaching, there are no regrets at all.

This past season has been a significant one for Watt, as he beat out the eleven year record of fellow Australian Jai Taurima in the long jump with 8.54 meters when in Stockholm at the end of July.

Watt is looking to get more than just honors and records on a domestic level though. He is looking to improve his records for the upcoming World Championships that are taking place starting August 27th through September 4th.
